June 19, 2009
Taiwan-based Asus and US-based navigation device maker Garmin exhibited two co-branded GPS (Global Positioning System) Nuvifone phone models, codenamed G60 and M20, at CommunicAsia trade held in Singapore between 16-19 June 2009, according to a press release by Asus on June 17. Asus stated that details regarding pricing and launch dates of these two Nuvifone models will not be released until the second half of 2009. Taiwan's Economic Daily reported that the G60 Nuvifone is expected to hit the market in early July 2009 at the earliest, initially in Taiwan, followed by Eastern Europe and North America.

Furthermore, Asus stated that its Nuvifone G60 will be the only model using Linux OS. Future Smartphones will be either pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Mobile, like M20, or be based on the Google Android platform, according to the Economic Daily News again. The launch of Asus' Android Smartphones, which was originally scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2009, is projected to be delayed until 2010.
